Programming - PHP and MySQL

Dynamic websites require a deeper core knowledge of programming and database technologies.
This Web Programming course is designed to build on the essential skills of HTML and Web design achieved in the Web Design and Advanced Web Design courses.
The course comprises instruction and hands-on development in two core areas - web programming using PHP and Relational Database skills using MySQL. These are open source technologies and are used in many large commercial websites. Additionally students are instructed in the skills to manage the upload, hosting and maintenance of websites.
Content
The course will teach you how to:
- Design and structure dynamic websites - order processing/ebusiness functionality
- Work with industry standard software for web programming—PHP/MySQL
- Upload your site to a server
- Maintain your website
Attendance
Commencing 22 September 2010, the course will run on Wednesday nights 6:30pm-9:30pm for twenty five weeks.
Certification
The course is certified by the Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC), a Dept of Education examining body and comprises Level 5 (Relational Database) and Level 6 (Programming and Web Site Hosting and Maintenance) modules approved under the National Qualifications Framework.
