This course will teach the fundamentals of building dynamic websites using PHP and MYSQL. This course is suited to learners keen to develop fundamental skills required for developing database driven websites.
On successful completion of the course your skills will include:

  • Understand the Web environment including browsers, servers, mark-up languages, scripting and plugins
  • Relational Database Design Using MYSQL
  • Server Side Scripting using PHP
  • Installation of Open Source Software for shopping carts, elearning, blogs and Content Managament Systems.
  • Hosting and maintenance skills
     

Course Structure and Award

This is a FETAC certified modular course. Successul candidates will be awarded the following Component Certificates:

  • Computer Programming Level 5 (C20013)
  • Relational Databases Level 6 (C30147)
  • Web Hosting and Maintenance Level 6 (L32521)

Classes are run in a modern computer lab using recent versions of industry standard software. Participants are required to complete a number of projects and examinations throughout the year.
 

 

Classes will commence on Tuesday 20 September 2011 and run for twenty five weeks from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.The college calander can be found here 
 
 

Certification

The course is certified by the Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC), a Dept of Education examining body and comprises Level 5 (Relational Database) and Level 6 (Programming and Web Site Hosting and Maintenance) modules approved under the National Qualifications Framework.
 

Tuition

€450 inclusive of assessment.
