Higher National Certificate in Sustainable and Ecological Design
Introduction
This one year course is designed for those who want to acquire the knowledge, skills and competences to work in an advisory capacity in the Design industry (Interior and Landscape). Graduates will advise designers in all areas of sustainable design, ecological building materials, environmental ethics and theories. This qualification is an excellent way to enhance other design qualifications.

Assessment and Certification
- Assessment is based on assignments and projects submitted during the year.
- This course is certified by BTEC/EDEXCEL.
- AutoCAD is certified by City and Guilds.
Progression
It is expected that graduates will go directly into employment or further studies.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should have a prior qualification in design (interior, landscape, garden construction, product
etc), engineering, horticulture or in any other related field.
Mature Students (including VTOS and BTEA)
Applicants without these entry requirements will be considered on the basis of age, experience and overall demonstrable interest and ability.
All applicants will have an advisory meeting to offer guidance and to ensure course suitability. Applicants will also be advised on course costs and registration details.
Fees
There are no tuition fees for EU students. At course commencement, students are required to pay for books, exams, a College registration fee and where applicable professional body registration fees.
