Higher National Certificate in Sustainable and Ecological Design 

Introduction

This one year course is designed for those who want to acquire the knowledge, skills and competences to work in an advisory capacity in the Design industry (Interior and Landscape). They will advise designers in all areas of sustainable design, ecological building materials, environmental ethics and theories.

Sustainable and Ecological Design has become a major concern for society and there are expected to be many career opportunities for persons who can advise on sustainable design, ecological building materials, environmental ethics and theories. This qualification is an excellent way to enhance other design qualifications.

Assessment and Certification

  • This course is certified by BTEC/EDEXCEL
  • AutoCAD is certified by City and Guilds
  • SCD staff continually assess project work throughout the year.  All work submitted becomes the property of the College.  


 

Entry Requirements

  • Prior Qualification

Applicants should have a prior qualification in design (interior, landscape, garden construction, product
etc), engineering, horticulture or in any other related field. 

  • Mature Students (including VTOS and BTEA)

Applicants without these entry requirements will be considered on the basis of age, experience and overall demonstrable interest and ability. 

  • Other Requirements

 All applicants will have an advisory meeting to offer guidance and to ensure course suitability.


 

 

Fees

There are no tuition fees for EU students. At course commencement, students are required to pay for books, exams, a College registration fee and where applicable professional body registration fees.
