Senior College Dun Laoghaire's Landscape and Garden Design students returned to Bloom in the Park 2010, which took place from Thursday 3 to Monday 7 June. This year's event included over 20 spectacular show gardens, 50 floral displays and a large scale artisan farmers' market. Having been part of the show since its inception in 2007, Senior College students faced their biggest challenge yet, the honour of designing and creating the garden for the show's primary sponsor, Bord Bia.
Having spent over three weeks working non stop, Ronnie Nevin and the team of Garden and Landscape Design students at Senior College successfully delivered a show garden of international standard, featuring a central native oak tree with undulating earth mounding, a mix of herbaceous and vegetable plants and a stunning garden building.
The garden was visited by College Principal, Barry O'Callaghan, the CEO of Dun Laoghaire VEC, Carol Hanney and Ciaran Cuffe, Minister of State with special responsibility for Sustainable Transport, Horticulture, Planning and Heritage who paid tribute to the students and staff for their achievement.
