To mark the 40th anniversary of the Colleges Football Association of Ireland (CFAI), the association, in partnership with the FAI, the Institute of Technology Tallaght, Sport Against Racism Ireland and Senior College Dun Laoghaire, will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for consecutive penalties.
The event will take place on Wednesday 29 February 2012 at Tallaght Stadium. The challenge is to smash the record of 742 consecutive penalty kicks which was set by the Major League Soccer in New York last June.
John Delaney, Chief Executive of the FAI has described the event as a "great opportunity to celebrate football".
The Event Organising Committee is being headed up by Brendan Maguire from Senior College. Brendan is encouraging SCD staff and students to come along on the day and take a shot - the onus is on taking the kick, its not necessary to actually score!
