Higher National Certificate in Facilities and Property Management

Introduction

This one-year Higher National Certificate will ensure that graduates who successfully complete this course will have the skills and a professional qualification to pursue a career in the property management sector. Organisations such as financial institutions, hospitals, shopping centre, business parks, factories and real estate agents increasingly require qualified personnel to manage their physical assets and ensure safety and health regulations are adhered to. The growth in rental property requires people with the knowledge and ability to understand procedures and legislation involved in the rental market, the implications of the Residential Tenancies Act 2004, and the ability to advise clients.


 

Career Opportunities

The facility manager functions as a member of the management team. The manager is involved in decisions and practices that allow the company to manage operating costs, maximise capital expenditures, improve productivity and provide services in a secure, healthy and pleasant environment.

Property managers work effectively with or for property agents and other professionals when acquiring, occupying, managing and disposing of property.

Assessment and Certification

 

  • This course is examined through continuous assessment incorporating assignments and exams.
  • This course is certified by BTEC/EDEXCEL.
  • Learners must pass all 10 subjects to be awarded the BTEC Higher National Certificate in Facilities Management.

Progression

It is expected that graduates will go directly into employment or further studies.


 

Entry Requirements

  • Prior Qualifications

It is advisable that applicants have experience at Further/Higher Education or have suitable employment experience.

  • Mature Students (including VTOS and BTEA)

Applicants without these entry requirements will be considered on the basis of age, experience and overall demonstrable ability

  • Other Requirements

All applicants will have an advisory meeting to offer guidance and to ensure course suitability. Applicants will also be advised on course costs and registration details.

 

Fees

There are no tuition fees for EU students. At course commencement, students are required to pay for books, exams, a College registration fee and where applicable professional body registration fees.
