Technician Year 2
Accounting Technicians perform accounting duties at middle management levels in commercial, industrial, public sector organisations and in the offices of practising Accountants. Accounting Technicians Ireland founded in 1983, is one of the fastest growing professional bodies in Ireland, with more than 3,500 members and 5,000 students.
Accounting Technicians fill a wide range of positions including:
- Accounts Clerk/Manager
- Assistant Accountant
- Audit Assistant
- Credit Controller
- Payroll Administrator
- Stock Controller
The Accounting Technician, having gained appropriate experience, will be competent in:
- Preparation of financial statements reports and other management information
- Computation of tax liabilities
- Setting up and managing systems for budgets
- Stock control
- Cost accounting
- Cash reconciliation
- Credit control
- Using Information Technology (IT) effectively
While the Accounting Technician qualification is in itself a passport to a rewarding career, many graduates continue their studies, to become fully qualified professional Accountants
Examination and Certification
Students take examinations in May each year. Repeat sittings are taken in August. All examinations are set and graded independently of the College by Accounting Technicians Ireland.
Exam results are generally available in July (May sitting) and late September (August sitting) and are sent directly to the student by Accounting Technicians Ireland.
Entry Requirements
Students must have completed Year 1 of the Accounting Technician course before registering for Year 2.

Attendance
Classes Monday 7pm-10pm and Tuesday 6:30pm-10:00pm commencing 20 Sept 2010.
NB Integrated Accounting Systems is a computer lab-based subject requiring extra time and therefore Tuesday classes commences at the earlier time of 6:30pm.
